Oliver!

Dickens with production value, Oliver! (FWFR) comes with a musical twist.

Sludgy synopsis:
Boy escapes orphanage to fall in with the wrong crowd led by an unkindly exploitative man, is rescued from this life of impoverished thievery by a kindly rich man, and is lured back to badness by the girlfriend of one of the bad kids.*

The question remains (unless you already know), will he turn his life around?

* What am I, Ebert?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abbreviated rules (re)borrowed from here to encourage some new entrants .... or old ones back.

The Rules

The first line of a haiku poem has five syllables.
The second line has seven syllables.
The third, and final, line has five syllables.

Example:
First, five syllables
Then there's seven syllables
Last line? Five again.

The Movie Haiku Contest (MHC) is open to every member of the FWFR site.

To enter, all you have to do is think of a Haiku for the current movie, then post into the current thread. Simple as that. Also, haikus may be risque, but nothing explicit please, unless you are MguyX trying to drive the point home.

Only one entry per person as per The Blevins Rule. However, you are allowed to edit your existing entry until 9pm Tuesday FWFR time.

Voting.

If you have entered the MHC, then you have to vote. If you do not vote, you'll lose 3 points from your total, and suffer from Significant Shrinkage. This could mean the difference between Stardom and a big fat Dumpster Dive.

You do not have to enter an MHC to vote. Vote away. It'll be like a lurker vote!

---------------------------------

For each round, you get to vote for your three favourite haikus. The voting is as follows:

3 pts fwfr a
2 pts fwfr b
1 pt fwfr c
--------------------------------

You may vote only once
You cannot vote for yourself.
You can vote for the previous winner

You vote by sending me your votes in a PM (Private Message) to me.

When the voting deadline ends (9pm Wednesday 14 Oct. FWFR time), the votes are tallied and the top three places are announced.

Oliver wants more
so he goes out and steals it
but, then, who will buy?

It's a musical!

Fagin sings, reviews
the situation. He needs
much more than four words.

Escaped from Fagin and voted.

Then thought of this one -- alas, too late!

Twist like the Dickens -
If Fagin don't lure him in,
Lionel get 'im.

By tallying and tarrying rules this means 3rd place is CHOCOLATE LADY and 2nd place is CLAY. Very nice inspiring work from both of you.
