Michael Jackson turned white!
Heart Attacko Jacko.
Puns aside though (just for a second) I can't believe he's dead. I don't care if he was a child molester, his music is just incredible. R.I.P. Michael.
Now, back to making jokes.

I could never stand any of his music. When it was a case of Michael Jackson vs. The Sex Pistols there was no competition.
Hence I'll remember him for his rather unusual psychology that made him do this to himself - deliberately. And for the fact that he liked young boys, and used to sleep with them. Whether he 'did' anything to them that was injurious to their mental health is something I guess we'll never know... |

I can't believe anyone was stupid enough to pony up dinero for his announced U.K. concerts this summer. Did anyone actually think he could get through one concert let alone 50??!! He has been a walking corpse for years. |

I have to admit that I also felt a little sad when I heard the news. I was born in 1983, so I was a bit too young to be really into Michael Jackson. Through osmosis though, I do associate him with pop culture as I was growing up. I remember watching some of his cheesy movies like Moonwalker, The Wiz, and "Captain E.O." as a kid, and later discovering his music videos, "Thriller" being the greatest, and somewhat timeless. I also remember playing the Michael Jackson arcade game. |

Never Can Say Goodbye.
Like him or not, he was an artist, and his songs will live on. |

His music was so-so. I cannot think of any song of his that really meant much to me, although he was obviously a very good singer as a child. I hope that dying early(ish) doesn't make people forgive all the horrible things he did, although to be fair to him he was fucked up by his father and assuming he was a paedophile by (distorted) inclination he resisted acting on it to a higher degree than most seem to.
I was always especially uncomfortable with the fact that many black people still held him in high regard and were prepared to pretend that his colour change was a skin condition. What a bad example he set.
I wonder what will happen to the children that he bought. |

Here's something you won't see anywhere else: Michael Jackson died in the one-time home of Sean Connery.
How do I know? The UK paper The Sun has a photo of the paramedic's monitor with the address where he was at the time they were called. (It also has the latitude & longitude, which Google maps matches to and confirm the address of 100 N Carolwood Drive.
Another quick Google search on the address reveals it to be the former home of Sean Connery! Now it belongs to Bradley Bell, the Executive Producer of The Young and The Restless. |

He hadn't released an album in eight years, and yet his death is instantly felt like an atom bomb. The world looks a little different today; The King of Pop is dead, long live the King of Pop.
As one who was there in 1977, I can attest that you're exactly right. Same deal precisely.
I can't wait to see Rolling Stone's memorial. If the cover is anything more than a simple portrait lined by reverent black, then MJ has just been dissed.
Re his music: he rocked. For a short but blazing time, he *defined* the music business. And how's that working out for you all without him? |

As another who was there in '77, the coverage now goes WAY beyond what happened with Elvis.
Of course back then there were no 24 hour news shows, no internet.
But IIRC, Elvis' death didn't even make the cover of People Magazine. I can't imagine any magazine that touches on entertainment not having MJ on the cover of the next several issues.
This is more like the reaction when Lennon was murdered. |
