Sal's fighting multiple battles with whipper, josh and biggerboat, boydegg's bitching about declines and josh has changed his username to "Sally Salopian" and his avatar to a man suggestively holding a sheep from behind.
At least one respected fwfer has already said it's ruining her fun here.
Anybody else sick of it?
Fed up with logging into the fourum and having to look for threads that haven't been hijacked?
Tired of reading 'its so unfair my review was declined'
Fed up with the bitching and nastiness?
Or is it just me? If it is, then i'll stop my own bitching and go away. |

If someone doesn't want to read someone's posts, the solution is so, so easy, even if Josh finds it a bit too hard to understand -- they can quite easily just skip those posts. And if they don't want to do that, they also have the option of not reading the Fourum for a while. That's what I did when Josh et al drove me away. It's only a peripheral part of the site. They can still review, as I did.
And don't worry, unlike other people in numerous cases, the irony of my hijacking this thread is not lost on me. |

No, Whipper has not changed his name to "Sally Salopian," nor has any connection with suggestive sheep and, for the second time in a few weeks, asks Bife to withdraw one of his slurs against him, if its not too much trouble.

I stand corrected - Josh has changed his name to 'Sally Salopian' and his avatar to a man doing a sheep.
I'm still sick of it, this fourum is not fun, mostly as a result of whipper vs sal and the contagious effect that seems to have had.
I know - if i don't like it I can go away. And i will, but before i sneak off quietly into fwfr history, i want to have my say.
Sal and Whipper, and now josh - you are a problem, you are ruining the enjoyment of this site. It may be only my enjoyment, so you may say 'who cares and good riddance' to bife, who picks unfairly on whipper and can't get right who posts what. |

No, it is not down to "Whipper v Sal".
It's down to Sal v anyone who disagrees with him or does anything Sal doesn't agree with. I just happen to stand up for myself and hate his absolutism and perceived superiority to everyone else on any matters he chooses to consider himself an expert on. A classic example is his lecturing BiggerBoat on game theory.
Another example is his argument with Josh, where Josh was just being Josh and asking someone else to do something, and Salopian took it upon himself to attack Josh really quite viciously. If you look you'll find a recent really sarcastic post by Salopian ridiculing Josh and I'm not surprised Josh has taken offence.
And he even managed to annoy Beanmimo who's a pretty easy-going person by any standards.
If you actually take the trouble to read the posts you'll see its Salopian v lots of people, not just me, and my worst remarks about him are pretty mild compared with the other way around.
No Bife, the problem is named Salopian.

You really are very un-self-aware, something you frequently acuse me of. The absolutism point about me is true, and I'm fine with it, since unlike many people here I stick to talking about what I know about and back up my position with reasoning. Also unlike many people here, yourself included, I apologize when I make a mistake. What you do not seem to notice about yourself is how you ratchet up a discussion. I'll post a particularly bad example if I can find it when I'm on the computer. You also pick away constantly for the sake of picking and trying (always unsuccessfully) to present me as inconsistent, whereas the instances of mine that may be deemed as picking actually have a proper point.
I didn't lecture BiggerBoat about game theory; I just objected to the pompous way he talked about it and the fact that it did not shed any light on the topic in hand.
Josh has offended me far more badly in his recent goings on, so I really feel fine biting my tongue with him a little less than I do the vast majority of the time. |

Oh, and on the thing about me objecting to anyone disagreeing with me, it's just not true. I hardly agree with one word that MisterBadIdea says, but I like reading his posts because they are interesting and lucid. The same goes for when BaftaBabe has views on a film that I do not share. What I do object to is when people insist on sticking with and repeating certain things, no matter how banal and irrational they are.
Still, I shouldn't be surprised at your wilfully misrepresenting me. It's hardly the first time. |

I'm prepared to make no posts in the Fourum for a set amount of time so long as he also makes no posts for the same period. |

I think this thread alone has quite efficiently proved Bife's point about what is going wrong on this fourum.
It is astonishing the lack of respect between absolute strangers here that I'm not surprised more people don't up and leave, with or without a declaration of doing so. It's no mistake that our regular Fourumites have been dwindling from a year and two years ago.
There's no obvious solution, because no one will back down - the antagonism on all sides has gone on too long. I know where my sympathies lie but to wade in on this ridiculous finger pointing would serve absolutely no purpose.
I can't stand the thought of long time, not to mention valued, members of our community being driven away by this behaviour, but quite frankly I sympathise. |

My suggestion is that only one of us posts on the site, and its not you.
How does that sound to you?
OK, failing that, how about if you try to consider that other people have views which are different from yours, and they deserve to be respected, and that you are not, in fact, blessed with more insight and understanding than other people, but you're just one of six billion people on the planet, all of whom have their own unique inner world with unique thoughts, feelings and beliefs?
And how about if you abandon the use of sarcasm in your posts? Would that be possible?
Why not give it a try?

I admit I am with Bife all the way on this.
I used to spend a lot more of my time on the Fourum than I have in the past year or so. Its become a lot less fun and I skip whole threads. I just come here to talk about movies with smart, funny people. Unfortunately, much of the discourse has become neither smart nor funny.
We lost noncentz and AC already. It would be sad to lose bife too.

I'd hate to see bife go because of this whole thing. But let's remember that neither of the people in this are saints, nor are they the devil incarnate. They are just two people who don't get along. Seems to me that there is a very simple solution.
Why don't the bickerers just decide to ignore each other on the Fourum from now on and continue to participate as they have before (minus the bad behaviour)? Each one decides and agrees to not refer or reply to the other's posts nor refer to the other person in their posts from now on. That will make things a whole lot more pleasant around here for both of them, as well as everyone else.
What do you say, boys?
