Morning Benj,
Have you decided what you are gonna do about the status after silver yet?
I know that it does not affect me or the vast majority of people and those that it does affect probably aren't bothered, but I would love to see the target for Gold or what ever you redesign them to be.
I am aware that this does not affect the running of the site and as such is not of a particularly high priority I'm just curious.
Anybody else got an opinion on where Gold should start or what they should become, if restructured?

Personally, I think Gold Status should begin at 10,000 reviews. It is the most logical step up after 5,000.
As for them becoming something different - a gold (yellow) diety should be fine.
(After that, we all know from the film Aladin that the only thing more powerful is a Genie!)

This what talked about in detail at one point, and it seemed as though Benj was on the verge of updating the statuses once he had decided on what levels to make them. However, more important things such as his own life probably came along.
I think the same as I did then. This is that the whole set of levels should be overhauled, as the top few were just added on as the noncentz etc. added more reviews and thus they are too close together. I think that a 1-2-5 system should be introduced, a la (sensible) currencies, with the exception that 0-9 should be a single level (or perhaps 1-9 with people with 0 reviews not having an icon at all). Thus:
0/1-9 Goer
10-19 Fan
20-49 Buff
50-99 Guru
100-199 Mogul
200-499 Star
500-999 Oracle
1,000-1,999 Deity
2,000-4,999 Bronze deity
5,000-9,999 Silver deity
10,000-19,000 Gold deity
etc.
Or extra status names could be inserted and/or statuses could be swapped around. For example, Movie watcher could be added at the bottom and I would say that Guru and Mogul could be above star. Also Movie legend etc. |

Last time this topic came up I suggested something along the lines of yours Sal upping the requirements on the higher levels seems sensible to me.
adding new status' is a good idea and I like some of those suggestions.

I think this is a good idea. 
I think it's a safe assumption that nobody will ever get to 20,000, and if they do then worry about it then. 
Also, given that the white icon for Silver Deity is widely despised, perhaps this could be made 'silver'? I.e., some sort of grey? It would stand out as there is nothing else on the main part of the page that's grey. Perhaps similar to the standard taskbar/menu bar grey? |

You could even fill the halo in in the same shade of grey to allow it to stand out more.

I did not realise it was disliked so much. (I like it!) Grey won't stand out that well on grey messages here, but then I suppose white doesn't stand out on white ones. If silver is corrected, then bronze would certainly have to be too. Bronze is not really anywhere near red.    |

I'm back as a diety Benj has broadened the rankings it is now 2000 between deity and bronze and silver; so silver is 6000 and over.
Hopefully gold will be introduced at around 8 or 10k
personally I don't mind at all something needed doing and something has been done.
