P.S. I was in Blighty in 1987 for the World Science Fiction Convention in Brighton, as a civilian. The con committee had made their program book a *hardcover,* so I decided to use it as a high-school annual. I went up to every pro I could find and asked himmer to sign my copy. Ray was a Guest of Honor, but he made himself available [nowadays, you can't really do that at big media conventions]. I just went back and checked, and Ray indeed inscribed my program book, along with Forry Ackerman, Don Wollheim, Julie Schwartz, Karl Edward Wagner, and others now deceased.
Not four years later, I was actually *working* with some of the folx who had signed my book: David Brin, Ben Bova, Norman Spinrad, Bill Gibson, Bob Silverberg, etc. [Peripherally, George Martin and Clive Barker.]
But I must say my most cherished scribble is, and was even back then, by Harryhausen.
