MY BIRTHDAY TREAT FOR YOU!
On Friday I'll be a year older, and I'll be feeling very generous to you all. So if you feel like playing this ego-trip game, I'll be handing out votes.

This year's game is: SIX DEGREES OF BAFTA/BACON

and the object is to trace my onscreen connection to Kevin Bacon. I will provide a start film and an end film and you just have to research the connections. If you post your connections and they are correct connections, you can then post links to two pages of your choice for me to vote on. This is the way I vote: I go through each row on a page and pick the review I think is top. So that means a potential 20 votes per question. I think. My math is crap!
NB - the connections are usually actors ... but not always!

1. Animal House to MouseyWON BY SALOPIAN

2. Starting Over to FutzWON BY LEMMYCAUTION VOTED!

3. The Gift to Futz WON BY SALOPIAN

4. Diner to Reds WON BY SALOPIAN

5. Footloose to Love & Death WON BY BEANMIMO VOTED!

6. White Water Summer to Unusual Ground Floor Conversion WON BY DEMONIC VOTED!

7. JFK to The Great Gatsby WON BY SALOPIAN

8. Mystic River to Reds WON BY SALOPIAN VOTED!

And two bonus questions because they involve theatre so will take much more research!

BONUS
9. The Big Picture to Privates on Parade
WON BY MM0rkeleb VOTED!
BONUS WON BY DEMONIC VOTED!

10. Flatliners to Steel Magnolias WON BY MM0rkeleb VOTED!

Have fun!

My first two links are somewhere on the second page - here are my bonus-ey ones.

First 100 lowest voted, unvoted by you
Second 100 lowest voted, unvoted by you

I get it now ... since you weren't in the film Privates on Parade, I initially assumed you were in some stage production and that's what I had to link to (hence my roundaboutness).

Now that I've got the gist of it, let me try to finish Demonic's attempt on #9:

Kevin Bacon <Flatliners> Julia Roberts <Steel Magnolias> Sam Shephard <Melodrama Play> Beth Porter

And my pages:

Kevin Bacon <Flatliners> Julia Roberts <Steel Magnolias> Robert Harling <Steel Magnolias> Beth Porter...

What do you think?

Hiya
Starts out good then goes off rails and doesn't connect me with anything, since my connection with Steel Mag is someone who's in it with whom I'm linked by theatre stuff - actually - and here's a hint - also by a tv thing, too.

NB Demonic ... you're definitely on the right track with Peter Nichols. If you tweak the web hard enough it will reveal to you my theatrical connection with him

Assuming this was for me ...

so my googling did in fact uncover a theatre link between you and Mr. Nichols, but it didn't involve Privates on Parade (instead, it involved Chez Nous). I thought PoP had to be on the other end of a chain starting with The Big Picture.

I'm confuzled.

Hi MM0rky
Sorry to be so late getting back to you - and more for confuzling you with demonic

The PoP confuzling comes because in my original post I said:
"the object is to trace my onscreen connection to Kevin Bacon."

But with the Bonus questions I didn't make it clear at all that the final film would lead to a stage play which connects me to the final film in the list. My bad!

But - you clever old MM0rkeLeb - you got it anyway!!! albeit by a slightly longer route. But post your two pages and votes will be yours soon as I can.
BTW
Here's the short way to the answer:
Kevin Bacon > The Big Picture > John Cleese > Privates on Parade > Peter Nichols > Chez Nous > ME

Quite, so they only mean anything if one has to go via your and Bacon's co-stars in those films. If one can immediately change to another of Bacon's (or your) films, as demonic and I initially did, then any film of his(/yours) can be specified on the end without making any difference.

Anyway, it was fun.

Well, shorter is snappier! But as I can't feed you all birthday cake, I can slice off votes in your collective directions

If one can start with any Kevin Bacon film, then one can presumably end with any Beth Porter film, and all the answers are the same except for tacking the specified films on either end. Just sayin'.

And don't forget the two bonus questions need a stage play to finish them off properly ... i.e. I'm not personally connected either to Privates on Parade or Steel Magnolias, but I am connected [in a theatrical context]to people connected with those films.

But Birthday girl has spoken... and you're rolling in potential vote gain already...

Yup, to be honest, I don't mind if I don't get any more votes from this. I am sure that BirthdayBabe has already seen most of my reviews and I don't want her to feel obliged to vote for ones she doesn't like. (That said, I answered that one before you anyway. B.B., wouldn't you rather just vote on whoever comes up with the shortest one? I've already given one minimal one, so that could account for my votes. )
