But I also valued him as a colleague in helping redress some inequalities on many of those productions.

Along with other UK-based North American actors in British Actors Equity, we were pioneers in establishing fair play for casting. Despite much irrational objection, Equity finally sanctioned The North American Committee, acting as internal advisors on traditional practices. Until quite recently it was Equity's primary source for such advice, duly passed along to the Home Office.

My thoughts are with his family.
