TA:MOU = Themed Anniversary: Moving On Up
DA EVEN NEWER ROOLZ
Each Tuesday a theme will be decided based on the Anniversary of some significant event. All you have to do is trawl your reviews for any that relate to that event and post them here with a link.
You can post as many as you wish, so long as either the film or your review clearly relates to the theme. You can only post during the week of the current TA:MOU.
You don't have to say you voted unless you really want to - but you are expected to visit all the links posted. As a courtesy to the majority of fwfrs, you may only post a link that uses the http://www.fwfr.com domain name.
Each TA:MOU # will be removed when a new one takes its place. This is to deter re-visiting of expired threads.

ON THIS DAY
1527, John Rut, assigned by King Henry VIII to command the Mary Guildford in search of the Northwest Passage, landed in St John's, Newfoundland. It was from there he sent his monarch the first known letter from North America. Here's an excerpt:

...the third day of August we entered into a good harbour called St. John and there we found Eleuen Saile of Normans and one Brittaine and two Portugal barks all a fishing and so we are ready to depart towards Cap de Bras that is 25 leagues as shortly as we have fished and so along the Coast until we may meete with our fellowe and so with all diligence that lyes in me toward parts to that Ilands that we are command at our departing and thus Jesu save and keepe you Honourable Grace and all your Honourable Reuer. In the Haven of St. John the third day of August written in hast 1527, by your servant John Rut to his uttermost of his power.
I know, I know, eMail's such less hassle. But don't get stuck in a rut, don't stamp your little foot, just collect all your mail-related fwfrs and post them here [did you see what I did there? Oh, well, please yourselves ...   ]
So, that's all feature-length films whose main character is a post-person/mail-person; all films whose plot depends on receiving/not receiving a letter or package; all films actually set in a post office or sorting office.

Gosh! I can find a handful of films, but only a few I've reviewed. I'll keep looking, but will also post some helpful hints for others who enjoy TA:MOU.
