Dirty Weekend was directed by the talented Michael Winner as a feminist take on his Death Wish series. Seriously.

"Goal nefesh!" is a Hebrew expression which means something like "Its terrible!"
Marvelous review, too! Because of the double meaning I don't think you even knew you had there. See, the word "nefesh" means "soul" - so if you read the first word as English, it means "goal soul", which, of course, if the team could make any goals it would make them feel better. But then, "go-al" in Hebrew simply means "disgust". However, when used together with "nefesh" it is even worse - like "repugnant" or "nauseating".
Beautiful! |

Excellent one for Paper Chase - but then, probably only so much so for people who know this site. |

When you visit a synagogue, you might notice that when the Torah scrolls are walked around the room, people will reach out to it, then kiss their hands (or whatever they used to reach with).
It's about association football, I'm afraid, not American 'football'.
Ah... I'll have to delete this one then. Must have been accepted by an American MERP.
Well, any MERP who didn't know what the film was about. Anyway, I cannot remember the review now but one half was Touchdown, right? Was the other half to do with touch as well? It's used in association football too, albeit not as iconically as in the term touchdown, so you might be able to work it into something else. For example, one can call it one-touch football when they pass directly from player to player to player so one could probably describe this team as playing no-touch football! |

Yeah, definitely a FYC special. I'll take my single digit vote count and be happy.
I should really watch that film again.

*SPOILER* for The Others in the first review.
Wax On, F*ck Off is about Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid) trying to revive his career by dropping his nice guy image.

Someone's on an Arthur Miller kick this week. I'm hoping someone will stage Incident at Vichy around these parts again. |
