This has probably been brought up before but in your own opinions what is the difference between smitheeing a review and just deleting if i don't want it as part of my review stockpile?

I'm looking for Philosphy here guys and girls (and not one disappears and the other becomes part of Alan Smithee the dud reviewer but stays on the site).

It depends. If you think the review is invalid in some way (inaccurate/duplicate etc.), you should delete it. If you think it's valid but don't like it, you could do either (but I would still delete it).

Sal, I'm looking at boring reviews not for any innaccuracies, isn't that the Merps job?

Why would you want to keep a boring review on the site, Beany?

Well, anything can slip through, especially if submitted before the film is out.

Anyway, I was trying to be objective, but I hate reviews being disowned. I'd always delete them. If you don't feel they benefit your pages, they don't benefit the site.

I'm with you on this way of thinking.

When Benj created Alan Smithee, he said that he prefers, unless a review is inaccurate or a duplicate, that no review gets deleted from the site. He has spent considerable time on approving them and often times has to research them for accuracy.

Ah I knew there was a reason I asked this question....

....the quandary rears it head.

But... in the case of boring reviews, very little time will have been needed to approve them. Benj has also made several references in recent times to wanting quality in the site content.

By the way, welcome back Mr Stupid!

Thank you. we'll see how long it lasts. I've been really busy travelling the road with comedy and trivia hosting (full time entertainer for over 3months now!).

Can you post me a link to this? I am about to do a quality check-up on my reviews and if these are his intentions, then I want to honor them.

Hhmmm, I can't really. I cannot think of specific contexts, but I've noticed him doing it. It has not been him saying that there shouldn't be boring reviews here, but more like him alluding to quality being preferable. At any rate, I strongly doubt that he objects to boring reviews being culled.

Yes. And I will never use my degree. (Hopefully!) I'm moving cities in a month. Most likely New York.

My, don't the years pass quickly?! Don't worry, most people don't use theirs. I hope you enjoyed it at least.

I don't think you need to worry about it. The kind of stuff that doesn't benefit the site is of the "Ship sinks, Leo dies", or "Fonda's jury acquits suspect" variety. Anything with some kind of cleverness is welcome on the site, and I'm sure your reviews are just fine.
