In Click, does anyone know whether the main character is called Newman because he becomes a new man? I would like to know so that I can decide whether to delete this review. |

Not sure what you mean? People don't usually take a new surname in adulthood, and certainly there's nothing in the film to suggest Sandler's character does. Your review works as is.

I meant in terms of why he was given the name by the film-makers! |

Oh, yes ... that's a much better question! Sorry Well, how would anyone know unless we could ask them. The rule of thumb is to assume that screenwriters are very well aware of every single element they include in a script, and yes, in the case of Click the Sandler character's remote journey has a positive effect on his personality. So I'd assume it's a deliberate name choice. But, as I said above, your review works anyway!

Well, this sort of trivia is often well known, so I thought someone might know in this case.

No, it's no good if the film-makers have already made that pun. It's like the Truman Show reviews that point out that he is a true man - as if the name were a coincidence!
Hhmmm, I wish this could be in my declined list instead of being deleted. Benj, is there any chance that you could please decline it? |

You keep your declined reviews? And just when I thought you could not get any cuter...

Of course. It means that (i) identical reviews cannot be approved for different people later, (ii) they can be resubmitted if similar reviews are later approved and (iii) I can check whether I have already tried a certain idea before (and in what form). |

(small maybe spoiler)The movie should have ended with Sandler's death in the rain....but Hollywood has no guts.
The review works because he gets to re-live his life and changes his personality the second time.

Yep, I'm not questioning whether the review is valid - just whether it has any merit. Unless his surname is a coincidence, it does not not.
Reviews which think they are making a pun, but which are not, are a pet hate of mine. There is one quite high-voted review which pretends to pun on a job title - but the activity in the film is of the same type as the one after which the job title was named. |

You shot who in the what now?
I have no idea what you mean. Give us a link to the review so that:
A) We all know what the hell you're banging on about. B) We have some drama to brighten up our otherwise tepid lives (that might just be me, mind).

I intentionally referred to it in the abstract so as to not be personal and I have no intention of changing that. However, apologies for the typo. |

It's more abstruse than abstract.
Anyway, doesn't matter. Your Click review is fine.

Then there is Willy Loman - low man from Death of a Salesman - these are not co-incidences these are intentional name choices to make a point. |

Oops. I should have read all the comments in the thread before posting. The name is definitely intentional since the angel of death is named Morty.
I guess he's not technically a 'new man' at the beginning of the film, but I have no doubt that this is why his name was chosen.
