I saw it yesterday for the first time, in a tiny little screen in an art cinema.
I felt relieved to really, really enjoy it and felt that it hadn't dated at all badly compared to most films from that time (although it's really hard to imagine people talking like that now, and some of the European accents are rather bizarre). I had no idea that so many famous quotations were from it (although I did know about the non-quotation), and didn't previously know to what "You'll regret it: maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life", "We'll always have Paris", "Round up the usual suspects" and "This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship" referred. (A downside of that is that some of them are not delivered as well in the film as when I have heard them elsewhere.)
Good choice of favourite film, lemmy.

If anything, it rather nicely reflects the international hodge-podge (both in terms of characters and the actors playing them) of the film. I'd certainly vote for an equally good review punning on sedan, even if the film were wholly European. It's just that Americans are much less familiar with British English than we are with American English; this is still a British website, though. |
